Dr. Reddy’s statement on the COVID-19 pandemic

Addressing an unprecedented global health challenge

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the world around us, Dr. Reddy’s is addressing this unprecedented challenge on multiple levels. Our highest priority remains the health and safety of employees, suppliers and partners, as well as our commitment to customers and patients to deliver affordable medicines.

Dr. Reddy’s is moving quickly to support communities and people who are on the medical frontlines as well as those who are most vulnerable to the economic challenge being posed by this pandemic. We are engaged in various initiatives to contain and cope with the global spread of COVID-19:

Employee safety and well-being

We are taking necessary measures to secure the safety and well-being of our more than 22,000 employees across the globe. For those colleagues who work at our manufacturing sites, laboratories and distribution centres, we have put in place added layers of health and safety procedures to provide them a safe working environment. We are following closely and complying with the advisories from local governments and health authorities and have issued guidance for remote working to all colleagues who can do so.

Continued supply of medicines

As a global pharmaceuticals company and leader in generics, Dr. Reddy’s remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure that our patients and customers have access to affordable medicines. All of our employees are working hard to address the challenges to work through the restrictions brought on by the lockdown in India and in other parts of the world, without compromising on safety. We thank all of our employees for making this possible.

Donations to COVID-19 support programs

We are stepping in to support communities that are being impacted most severely by the COVID-19 outbreak. We have made monetary donations to the Government of Telangana to enable access to N95 masks for frontline health workers in the state. Another contribution is being made to the Andhra Pradesh CM Relief Fund. In collaboration with Akshay Patra, we are now sponsoring 25,000 meals a day for those facing financial hardships. We will also be donating dry provisions to 20,000 families in need across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Along with this, we have been and will continue to donate protective equipment, sanitizers and medicines to medical professionals, public servants and healthcare institutions. In the US, supplies of Dr. Reddy’s Hydroxychloroquine and Propofol are being provided directly to hospitals hit hard by the pandemic including in New York and New Jersey.

Production of sanitizers

In areas like Shreveport, Louisiana, in the US, our manufacturing facilities are using excess capacity to produce hand sanitizer. These products are being donated to area hospital and health systems in need.

Employee volunteering and contributions

Our employees around the world are taking initiative and contributing in their individual ways to help address the outbreak. Our colleagues have volunteered to support the Government of Telangana Social Initiative Forum and the Akshay Patra Foundation towards distribution of food at their designated centres, spreading awareness on social distancing and other critical support. Many employees have made personal monetary contributions to the Prime Minister’s CARES Fund in India and other relief funds. As an organization, Dr. Reddy’s has committed to support employee contributions through Dr. Reddy’s matching programs.

Despite the extraordinary crisis that the novel coronavirus has brought forth, our company is determined to keep supporting our patients, partners, colleagues and communities and stay true to our belief that ‘Good Health Can’t Wait’. As the situation evolves, we will keep you informed about further actions we take to respond to the pandemic.
